You’re tracking revenue, engagement, ad spend, funnels, conversion rates…
But you're completely ignoring the one metric that quietly decides everything:
The state of mind you’re operating from.
If you’re running a successful business from a revved-up, stressed-out, constantly-on-the-edge nervous system, there will be a cost. To your health. To your relationships. To your creativity. To your long-term sustainability.
And ironically?
To your business results too.
The Myth of “I’ll Rest When…”
High-achieving business owners are brilliant at postponing their wellbeing:
“Once this launch is done, I’ll slow down.”
“Once I hit £X, I can ease off.”
“Once I hire someone, it’ll be better.”
The problem is, when your mind is running on autopilot, you carry that state with you. You hit the revenue goal… and instantly raise it. You complete the launch… and start planning the next one. You hire… and then lie awake worrying about payroll.
It’s not the circumstances that are exhausting you.
It’s the mindset you’re living in while you navigate them.
And that mindset is written all over your feeling state.
Your Feeling Is Data (Not an Inconvenience)
Most business owners treat their state of mind as an inconvenience to push through:
Tight chest? Grab a coffee.
Racing thoughts? Work later.
Snappy with the team? Explain it away with “I’m just under pressure right now.”
But what if your feeling is actually hard data?
That burnout-y heaviness → you’re in your head, trying to control everything.
That stressed urgency → you’re running on fear, not wisdom.
That calm clarity → you’re in your life, in the moment, able to respond rather than react.
When you override how you feel, you override the most accurate signal you’ve got about whether you’re fit to make good decisions.
From the outside, the business may look fine.
On the inside, the cost is building.
Strategy Is Useless From a Scrambled Mind
You can have the best strategy in the world.
The perfect funnel. The right niche. The smartest mentor.
If your mind is racing, second-guessing, catastrophising and obsessing, you will:
Overcomplicate simple decisions
Delay important moves out of fear
Say yes to things you don’t have capacity for
Micromanage instead of lead
Miss obvious opportunities because you’re too busy firefighting
This is the bit most business owners miss:
It’s not what you’re doing – it’s the state of mind you’re doing it from.
A steady mind makes cleaner calls.
A steady mind delegates better.
A steady mind sees possibility where an anxious one only sees risk.
You Don’t Need to Become a Different Person
At this point some people think I’m suggesting they become a different kind of human:
“I’m just not naturally chilled.”
“My brain has always worked like this.”
“If I slow down, everything will fall apart.”
I’m not asking you to turn into a zen monk who doesn’t care about results.
I’m pointing to the simple fact that:
You have two very different operating systems available, moment-to-moment.
Head-based, fear-driven, revved-up.
Feels urgent, tight, pressured.
Obsessed with controlling outcomes.
Exhausting.
Insight-based, grounded, present.
Feels steady, spacious, clear.
Able to respond instead of react.
Surprisingly efficient.
Both are available to you right now.
Neither requires you to quit your business, move to a cabin or throw your phone in the sea.
It does require you to stop dismissing how you feel as irrelevant.
The Diamond Under the Hustle
Here’s where this overlaps with the deeper Principles work:
Underneath your identity as “CEO”, “founder”, “the one who has to hold it all together” - you are the same diamond I talk about in my other work.
You are not:
The overachiever who can never switch off
The anxious boss who lies awake every night
The burnt-out success story no one knows is falling apart inside
Those are layers. Learned patterns. Habitual thought.
Underneath that, you have access to the same universal Mind – the same intelligence behind life – that grows trees, heals cuts, and gives you fresh ideas in the shower.
That intelligence is a far better CEO than your lizard brain.
This Is the Work Most Business Owners Avoid
Let’s be blunt:
Most business owners would rather buy another course on scaling or productivity than sit still long enough to notice how they’re actually doing.
Why?
Because facing your own mind feels vulnerable. Slowing down feels risky. Letting go of control feels like you’re gambling everything you’ve built.
But here’s the hard truth:
The real risk is building a business on a foundation of chronic stress.
At some point, your body, your relationships, or your joy will tap out.
And by the time that happens, the clean-up is much harder.
Unrestricted: Learning to Run a Business Without Losing Yourself
This is exactly why I created Unrestricted - my 6 month programme.
It’s not a mindset “hack”.
It’s not about positive thinking or manifesting bigger launches.
It’s about:
Understanding how your experience is created from the inside-out
Seeing how your state of mind is impacting every part of your business
Learning to recognise and respect the feeling as data, not an obstacle
Making decisions from clarity instead of panic
Building a business that your nervous system can actually sustain
I work with business owners who, on paper, are incredibly successful… and yet feel trapped, exhausted and one wobble away from everything collapsing.
If you know you can’t keep running your business from the same frantic operating system – but you also don’t want to burn it all down – Unrestricted is where we start changing that.
You don’t need another productivity tool.
You need to stop ignoring the feeling that’s been trying to get your attention all along.
